District Attorney General James Dunn said in a press release Friday, all charges were dropped against the two teen boys that had been accused of starting a November 23, 2016 fire that would eventually lead to nearly 17,000 acres burned in Gatlinburg and Sevier County.

“Because of the intervening weather event, the State is unable to prove the criminal responsibility of two juveniles beyond a reasonable doubt for the devastation that occurred outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park,” a statement by Dunn reads.

Since the two were being tried in juvenile court, no information about them is available except the report they were not from Sevier County.
